Rurikō-ji Pagoda瑠璃光寺五重塔
Bus from North Exit stop 4 or 5 to Kenchō-mae (about 30 min), then 10 min on foot
A 15th-century five-storey pagoda, a National Treasure, reflected in a pond in a hillside park.
Free to view; lit up from sunset to 22:00. Its new roof was finished in December 2025.
Akiyoshidō Cave秋芳洞
Bus from North Exit stop 2, about 35–40 min, then 10 min on foot
One of Japan’s largest limestone caves, under the Akiyoshidai plateau.
9:00–16:30 (to 17:30 Jul–Sep); ¥1,600 (¥1,350 in winter). Buses are few: plan around the timetable.
