A working fish market on the Kanmon Strait; on weekends the stalls sell sushi and seafood.
Free entry. Sushi stalls Fri–Sat from 8:00, Sun and holidays from 7:00, until 15:00 or until sold out.
Akama Shrine赤間神宮
Sanden bus, 30–45 min (8 min from JR Shimonoseki)
A shrine to the child emperor Antoku, lost at the sea battle of Dan-no-ura, with a gate modelled on the Dragon Palace.
Free; the Treasure Hall is 9:00–16:30, ¥100.
Kanmon Strait undersea walkway関門トンネル人道
Sanden bus to Mimosusogawa, 30–40 min (11 min from JR Shimonoseki)
A park under the Kanmon Bridge, with a 780 m walkway under the sea to Kyushu.
The walkway is free, 6:00–22:00: about 15 min to Moji.
