Nanzen-ji南禅寺
About 10 min on foot, through the brick tunnel
A Zen head temple with a huge Sanmon gate and a rock garden.
8:40–17:00 (Dec–Feb to 16:30); grounds free, garden and gate ¥600 each. Nanzen-in is closed until spring 2027.
Philosopher’s Path哲学の道
About 20 min on foot to the south end
About 1.9 km of canal-side path under cherry trees.
Always open and free. Walk it south from Ginkaku-ji to end near Nanzen-ji and Keage.
